General Carpet Cleaning Tips

C & H Carpet and Furniture Cleaning offers you some useful stain removal and carpet cleaning tips for continuously clean and beautifully maintained carpet in your homes.

  • Vacuum frequently. Try to vacuum your carpets at least weekly, or even daily in your most heavily walked on areas. Vacuuming can remove up to 80% of all soil that eventually gets ground into your carpets.

  • Place walk off mats in your heavily traveled doorways. Mats will catch a lot of dirt from shoes.... whether your kids wipe their feet or not.

  • If your dog, child, or husband tracks mud on to your carpet, don't freak out. In fact, don't do anything. I realize that it may be hard to look at, but your best bet is to let it dry completely, then vacuum it out. Tracked in mud is usually just setting on top of the carpet. If you rub it, you will just push it into the carpet and spread it around. Then it will need to be extracted.

  • I strongly recommend the application of a fabric protector after cleaning. Spills are much easier to clean up. Your carpets will stay clean longer and clean up better when professionally cleaned again.

Have your carpets professionally cleaned every 6 to 12 months. Do not use the rental "rug doctor" machines and products. They will leave residue behind that will attract and hold dirt particles in your carpets. Whether you use C & H or not, never hire a "dry cleaning" carpet service. It is a flawed process and will void your new carpet warranty. For more information about stain removal and carpet cleaning tips, give C&H a call!
